Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the reasons this turned out to be a strong nursing home is that it earned a very impressive long-term care grade. In fact, long-term care is its best grade. In that area, we gave this facility an impressive grade of A-. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly illness for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded an impressive short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B+. In our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. The nursing rating is based on many factors, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finally, this nursing home also earned top notch inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a B+. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.
