Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that category with an A. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

We also gave this nursing home an impressive score in long-term care. This facility received a grade of B in this category, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 91.860466 percent of its patients. This is a few points below what we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing rating assesses a handful of factors, most of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home really did not fare very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is really as terrible as it gets. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to grade a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Given its grade in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
