Facility Inspections
We would like to point out that this nursing home's inspection grade exceeded its overall grade. This facility earned a B+ in this area, which is a quality score. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's better category grades came in the area of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B+. In determining our short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we awarded this facility a grade of B in our long-term care category. This is one of our better grades. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
Our final category is nursing, where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C in this area. Our nursing rating includes several data points, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
