Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection grade. Its inspection grade was far better than its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave it a grade of A. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category tend to have few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also received a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded them a B+ in this category, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 83.041954 percent of its residents, which is a bit lower than we anticipated. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. There are quite a few criteria included in this category. Most of the criteria relate to staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this facility did not perform well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this was this facility's poorest category. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Given its score in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
