Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to earning a strong overall grade, this facility fared well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. In our short-term care score, we endeavor to craft a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its impressive profile, this facility also performed well in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. The nursing score considers many datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we scored turned out to be this nursing home's worst category. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it a respectable grade of B- for long-term care. In the category of long-term care, we focus more on the quantity of care provided by a facility, as opposed to more healthcare-oriented services. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.44525 percent of its patients, which is more than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
