Long-term Care Quality
To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Our nursing grade weighs a number of subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was short-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Even though this is not as dominant as a few of this facility's other scores, it is still a positive score. Our short-term care scores are presumably most important for patients requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. We weren't able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
