Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it an A- for our inspections score. This grade is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home just a D for our long-term care rating and that actually turned out to be its second most respectable category. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.94721 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility wound up receiving a rock-bottom grade in our short-term care area. It received a lowly F in this category. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its abysmal grade in this category, we weren't stunned to find this place provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.5 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the final area, this nursing home really didn't perform very well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. There are quite a few subcategories included in this category. Most of the data points relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
