Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility received an A+ inspection score. This score is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the best complements we can pay to a nursing home. Our inspection ratings are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Nursing scores are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided 4.7 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is among the better figures in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We are really impressed by these figures. On top of providing impressive levels of care, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in the state in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on our next category, this top notch nursing home also excelled in the area of long-term care. In this category, we awarded it a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of offering elite levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.7013 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. This combination proved to be effective as this facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
In our final category, this facility received another A+ for its short-term care grade. This completed a remarkable report card of straight A+'s. Our short-term care grade is often employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Remarkably, this facility provides roughly one and a half times as many hours of services from physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the nation in this area with 61.5 percent of its patients returning home.
