Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Long-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for its long-term care grade, which really isn't a bad grade. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 97.297295 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. In computing a facility's nursing rating, we assess the amount of time nurses are seeing residents and the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we graded is short-term care, in which this facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Our short-term care grade is generally used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. With a score of this caliber for this area, we were not shocked to find this place was below average in many staffing metrics we focus on. The facility provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
