Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of A-. This is a much better grade than the place's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to point out that this nursing home received a strong long-term care score. In fact, it received one of our highest grades in that area with a grade of A-. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 94.02655 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. There are a number of factors included in this area. Many of these factors relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a relatively low total compared with most nursing homes. Finally, while this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this area.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we rated was short-term care, which was this nursing home's least impressive category. We awarded this nursing home a D in this category. Naturally, this category pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. Short-term care scores are important for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we discovered that this facility provides fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
