Facility Inspections
With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this facility performed well in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its first-rate profile, this facility also performed well in our short-term care area. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for the area. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home was awarded an elite grade of A- in our long-term care category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 97.5 percent of its patients. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final area we scored is nursing, where this nursing home received a B+. This topped off a very favorable profile. Very few facilities earned a B+ or better in each of our categories. In computing our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these data points as predictive measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
