Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also gave this nursing home a score of A- for our long-term care score. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was awarded a favorable short-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it an above average score of B in this area. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We were not able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we scored is nursing, where this facility was given a B-. Even though this ended up being its lowest category score, this is nevertheless a middle of the pack score. The nursing rating weighs several subcategories, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we like to look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are measures of the quality of nursing care.
