Facility Inspections
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of A- for our short-term care grade. Short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. While this wasn't quite as good as some of its other category grades, this isn't a bad score either. In determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are with patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other nursing homes. Lastly, while this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared well in this metric.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is an abysmal score. You should not necessarily rule out a nursing home as a result of a single concerning score though. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 94.15205 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
