Nurse Quality

Grade: B

While we didn't give this facility a good overall score, we did give it a strong grade in the area of nursing, where it received a B. This is better than most facilities in this category. The nursing rating includes a handful of subcategories, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a decent score in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of B-. Our short-term care grades are arguably more critical for folks requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care rating, which is not an impressive grade. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Looking to our final category of inspections, we gave this facility a score of just D, which is a relatively poor grade. Our inspection score is based on the nursing home's government inspection reports. Since this information is collected by independent government inspectors, we place more weight on it in our overall grades. Inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This particular facility had 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they caused a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was assessed significant government fines recently of more than $100,000. This often signifies that a facility's bad performance has been an issue for more than one year.
