Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

To complement its elite assessments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care rating. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 98.4375 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Our nursing rating includes many components, but the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a patient even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

The last area we rated was short-term care, where this facility received a B. While this turned out to be its least impressive category score, this is still a good grade. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
