Facility Inspections
While we gave this nursing home a poor overall score, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This was due to the nursing home receiving a decent government inspection report this year. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had too many severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we gave this facility a grade of C for its long-term care score, which is not too bad of a score. Our long-term care grades are more critical for those requiring more traditional assistance associated with activities of daily living. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 93.03136 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent figure. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we assessed is short-term care. This facility's received a rock-bottom short-term care grade where it received a lowly F. Short-term care ratings are crucial for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional skilled nursing. This means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With a grade this poor in this category, we were not surprised to discover this facility was below average in many staffing metrics we focus on. It provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the next category, this nursing home did not perform very well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. In computing our nursing grades, we weigh both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were significantly below the national average. On top of ranking below average in nursing hours per resident, this place also had poor scores in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in both of these statistics. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.
