Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While we were not high on this nursing home's overall score, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A. Inspection ratings are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home's second most respectable score is long-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this area, it still fared relatively poorly. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated 83.544304 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly below what we were hoping for. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. With 1.77 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility did not fare as well as the average nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this nursing home just a D for our short-term care grade. This is well below average in this category. Our short-term care scores are thought to be more meaningful for patients requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this place is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the data we assessed. The last area we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. It performed better in this area, with 58.3 percent of its patients returning home. This was just about this nursing home's only redeeming quality in this area.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last category we assessed was nursing, in which this facility was given a poor score here also. It received a lowly F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. The nursing category assesses many components, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averaged only 3.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. This nursing home also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its weak nursing hour totals. We looked at the percent of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were quite disappointed. This place was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
