Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
The main thing salvaging this nursing home's profile is its elite nursing score. In fact, we awarded this facility an A in that category. Nursing scores are primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided 4.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This was one of the better figures we found. Furthermore, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. Both of these statistics are impressive. On top of providing impressive levels of care, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering falls resulting in major injury, this place performed as well as any nursing home the nation.
Short-term Care Quality
Another strength of this nursing home is its impressive score in short-term care. We awarded it one of our most impressive grades in that category, with a grade of A-. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more meaningful for people requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered much more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that it fared better than most nursing homes in this area with 53.7 percent of its residents returning home. For most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also received a decent inspection grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were in categories G through L. This tells you that inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to present an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We really didn't find anything on this place's inspection report to be too concerning.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's least impressive category is long-term care, which is the last area we analyzed. We gave it an abysmal F in this area. Even with multiple acceptable scores in other areas, this grade is nevertheless concerning so we wanted to make a note of it. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. This facility's vaccination statistics weren't as favorable as its number of nursing hours per resident. It administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 90.32258 percent of its patients. We would like to see some improvement herein this statistic next year. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
