Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also fared well in our long-term care category, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received a nearly flawless inspection. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. This was one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Our nursing rating features numerous subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our fourth area, this nursing home also performed admirably in our short-term care category. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ in this area. This topped off a very strong report card. In our short-term care rating, we strive to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
