Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home received an A+ inspection grade. This is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
We also would like to note the fact that this facility was awarded a first-rate grade of A in our short-term care category. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
Building on its fine profile, this facility also was given a dominant long-term care grade, with a grade of A. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 94.545456 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final area we looked at is nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of A-. This rounded out a very strong report card. Very few facilities received an A- or better in each of our categories. There are a variety of factors included in this category. Many of these data points relate to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving residents at least once a day.
