Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that area with an A. Inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Building on this nursing home's list of strengths, it also earned an excellent nursing score. We awarded them an impressive grade of B- in this area. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are often employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation To provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was long-term care, is this facility's least impressive area. We gave this facility a D in this area. This really is one of the few weak points of an otherwise strong report card. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 92.17687 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit less than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
