Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was given a favorable short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we assessed was long-term care. In this area, we awarded this facility an acceptable grade of B-. This actually proved to be this facility's weakest category. In our long-term care score, we weigh the sheer volume of care provided by a facility, along with a few quality measures. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 99.14773 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
