Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its high marks in the area of nursing. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this area. Our nursing rating is based on many components, however, the paramount one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Moving on to the area of long-term care, this facility was awarded just a D in that area. As it turns out, this ended up being one of its better grades. The only positive thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, we also want to point out that this facility was assessed significant government fines in recent years amounting to over $100,000. This typically signifies that a bad performance has been an issue for multiple years.

This nursing home's worst area was short-term care, which is the last category we analyzed. In this category, we gave this nursing home a D. Short-term care ratings are vital for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires more skilled nursing. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With a score this poor for this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility was below average in two of the key staffing areas we focus on. The facility offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities.
