While this facility's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the facility's nurse staffing. Based on the CMS data, this nursing home offers 3.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused statistics. Specifically, we look at the percent of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these metrics as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Historical

We gave this nursing home just a D for our long-term care grade. This is not a score to write home about. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 96.410255 percent of its patients, which is a very solid figure. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Historical

This nursing home's least impressive area is short-term care, which is the final category we scored. For this area, we awarded this facility a grade of just D. Short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provides fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 35.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

This datapoint measures the percent of long-term patients which were administered antipsychotic drugs.
