Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also received top notch government inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better scores in this category, with a grade of A-. Our inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so favorably is that it received a dominant short-term care score. Indeed, short-term care turned out to be its second most impressive category score. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A-. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. The nursing rating is based on quite a few factors, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we looked at was long-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of B-. This actually was this nursing home's weakest category. This is still not a terrible score. Long-term care grades are often used to score a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 99.248116 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
