Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of C. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This place was hit with 9 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories G through L. This means it dodged the more significant categories of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility an C. When computing a facility's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses commit to residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a grade of D for its short-term care grade, which is not a very good score. In computing these short-term care ratings, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this nursing home's short-term care grade.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was long-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. After we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated a relatively low 77.93296 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
