Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in this category with a grade of A+. Inspection scores are tied to many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this nursing home's better category grades was in the category of long-term care. This turned out to be its second most favorable category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B-. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to discover that this facility vaccinates 94.639175 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home ended up receiving a bottom of the barrel grade in our short-term care area. It was given an F in this category. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. With its grade in this area, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we looked at. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this facility's short-term care score.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's worst area was nursing, which is the final category we looked at. It received an abysmal F in this category. In spite of some solid scores in other areas, this grade is still concerning so we wanted to point it out. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
