Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this facility only received a D for its short-term care rating, which is actually one of its higher category grades. Our short-term care ratings are likely more critical for those requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Given its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5 percent of its patients returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. The nursing score is based on several factors. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This particular place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This statistic is significantly below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This facility fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we looked at is long-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is a poor score. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes provide. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 61.63522 percent of its residents. This is many points less than what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
