Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. When determining our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our third category, we gave this nursing home a score of A for our long-term care rating. This is a very strong grade. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last area, we gave this nursing home an A for our short-term care grade. This wrapped up a very strong report card. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is frequently a meaningful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 3.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
