Nurse Quality
We really weren't high on this facility's overall scores or its category grades. We gave it just a just D for our nursing rating and that turned out to be its best score. There are numerous criteria within this grade. Most of these factors are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provides 2.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a bit below average. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility was above average in two of the datapoints we considered, with good scores for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. These metrics are usually reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a grade of just D in the area of inspections. Unfortunately, this ended up being its second best grade. Our inspection grades weigh many items on the facility's inspection reports. If you see severe deficiencies on the reports, this is typically a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, we want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received significant government fines recently of over $100,000. This generally means that a facility'spoor track record spanned multiple years.
Long-term Care Quality
Another unfortunate development was the F this facility was given in the category of long-term care. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 99.85714 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Lastly, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. We found that this facility had 2.35 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this figure is far less impressive than its vaccination record.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was short-term care. This nursing home received a poor grade of F in that category. In our short-term care category, we try to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With its score in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 26.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this facility's short-term care grade.
