Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility received an inspection score which is better than its overall rating. Inspection ratings are based on the facility's recent government inspections. We awarded this facility an above average grade of B+ in this area. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we gave this facility a B in our short-term care category. This happens to be one of our more favorable scores. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is considered to be a solid assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-, which is a decent grade. In determining our nursing scores, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also assessed several nursing quality measures. While this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this area. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning patients more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the last area, this nursing home received a decent long-term care score of C. Long-term care ratings are meaningful for residents in need of personal care. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average total. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
