Facility Inspections
B-
Historical
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
B-
Historical
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B-. In computing our nursing ratings, we weigh both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, while this place didn't rank highly in terms of its nursing hours per resident, it fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the number of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, this place fared better than average.

Long-term Care Quality
B-
Historical
We were also surprised to learn that this nursing home received a reasonably solid long-term care grade this year. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. In computing our long-term care grades, we look at the facility's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 64.15663 percent of its residents. This is many points below what we were hoping for. Lastly, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. Although it had 2.34 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was more favorable.
Short-term Care Quality
F
Historical
The last area we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given a bottom of the barrel score in this category also. It received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously somewhat alarming. Our short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With its weak grade in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this place provides substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 33.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
