In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. We awarded it an A for this area, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection scores are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Building on its impressive resume, this facility also excelled in the category of nursing. We awarded it an B for that category. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Turning to the third category, this nursing home also earned a grade of B for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The final category we rated was short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a C. Short-term care grades are commonly used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 3.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
