Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a very good score in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that had too many deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. We analyzed the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the number of hours the nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this area. This facility provides only 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not a very good score. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. With a score of this caliber in this category, we weren't shocked to learn this facility was below average in many staffing figures we focus on. The nursing home provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is long-term care. This nursing home received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this category. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 82.35294 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
