Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.29078 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Turning to inspections, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. The nursing score assesses a handful of datapoints, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving residents at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we looked at was short-term care, where this facility received a grade of B-. Even though this wound up being its weakest category grade, this is still not a bad grade. In computing our short-term care scores, we size up a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is generally a useful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
