Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Neither this facility's overall grade nor its category grades gave us much to write home about. This place's best category is nursing, but even there it received just a D. When determining our nursing grades, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this place didn't receive glowing inspections in recent years. We gave it a grade of just D for our inspections rating and that actually was its second best grade. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. Generally, you should be more cautious when considering a nursing home that has severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, we want to point out that this nursing home was assessed large government fines in recent years amounting to over $100,000. This typically suggests that a facility'sbad performance spanned more than one year.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Another concern is the F this nursing home was given in the category of short-term care. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is frequently a fair measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. With a grade of this caliber for this category, we weren't stunned to find that this place was below average in several staffing metrics we assess. The nursing home offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home received a very poor grade of F in that category. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. We were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 52.49267 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
