Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. A deficiency-free inspection report is what we like to see.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's quality category scores came in the category of long-term care. We gave them one of our more positive scores in that area, with a grade of B+. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 91.853935 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Our nursing grade is primarily based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final category, this facility received an acceptable short-term care grade. Even though this wasn't as elite as several of its other grades, this is truly not a terrible score. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
