Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility has received near flawless inspections recently. We gave them an A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is primarily based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning the page to our next area, this facility was awarded a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 98.96373 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to the fourth area, this facility was given a very strong short-term care grade. We awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, wrapping up one of our finer report cards. In crafting these short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
