Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's next highest score was long-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this area, it still performed somewhat badly. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility administered the vaccine to just 64.96 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this facility also excelled in nursing. We gave it a grade of D for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our nursing category assesses quite a few factors, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. With just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this place's nurse staffing levels were significantly below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a poor grade here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category, which is definitely a major disappointment. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this place offers substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical nursing home. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
