Facility Inspections
While we gave this place a poor overall rating, we gave it a somewhat respectable grade in the category of inspections, where we gave it a B-. This was certainly better than its other category grades. Our inspection scores are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this facility an B-. There are a variety of criteria within this category. Many of the datapoints relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. Based on the data, it looks like this facility provides an impressive 4.6 hours per patient on a daily basis. This is more nursing care than most nursing homes provide. In calculating our grades, we apply more weight to hours performed by more highly trained nurses such as registered or licensed nurses. Finally, this place was relatively weak in two of the areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given a B- in this area. Our short-term care grades are important for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place outperformed the majority of nursing homes in the nation in this area with 49.4 percent of its residents returning home. This is a better rate than most facilities.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final category, this facility was awarded a decent long-term care grade of B-. Our long-term care scores are pivotal for people requiring non-healthcare services such as personal care. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
