Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of earning a great overall score, this facility fared even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the facility's recent government inspection reports. We gave it a grade of A+ for this category, which is one of our highest grades. Our inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category tend to have few severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home fared well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- for that category, which turns out to be one of our most elite grades. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 6.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next highest area was long-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. In calculating our long-term care ratings, we assess the personal care received by the nursing home's residents. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.765434 percent of its patients, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last category we assessed is nursing, was this facility's worst area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that category. This really is one of just a couple of weak links on an otherwise strong report card. Our nursing grade consists of quite a few subcategories, however, the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
