Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this nursing home's overall grade was not bad, it really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be relatively minor. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

We also gave this facility a positive score in short-term care. This facility received a B+ in this area, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home earned a very good nursing rating as well. It earned one of our higher grades in that area with a F. We scrutinized the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses spent with patients, in calculating our rating in this area. This place averaged only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we graded was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is a very poor score. This is certainly a major concern. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 93.12977 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is a few points less than we expected but still a respectable percentage. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
