Short-term Care Quality
On top of earning a strong overall score, this nursing home fared well in our short-term care category. We awarded it a grade of A for that category. In our short-term care assessment, we seek to create a sound measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
Turning to another one of this place's strengths, it also earned a very impressive inspection rating. Inspections turned out to be one of its best categories. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. The nursing grade includes a handful of subcategories, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a relatively low total compared with most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures. While this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this subcategory. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning residents even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last category, this nursing home was awarded a grade of C for long-term care, which is an acceptable grade. In the area of long-term care, we weigh the quantity of services provided by a nursing home, rather than more medically-intensive services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an above average figure. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
