Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home's best category grade came in the area of health inspections. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this area. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was given a favorable long-term care score. Indeed, we awarded it a B+ in this category, which happens to be one of our better. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.48321 percent of its patients, which is more than most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. Our nursing score is mostly based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the fourth area, this nursing home really did not fare very well. Due to an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is its weakest category. Short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Given its score in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this place is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below the national average.
