Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with a favorable overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was awarded a grade of B+. It performed better than most nursing homes in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our third category, this nursing home also earned a score of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Moving on to the final category, this facility received a highly favorable nursing rating. This nursing home didn't turn out to have any noticeable weaknesses. We weighed the levels of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses worked with residents, in computing our score in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
