Facility Inspections
To go along with its great overall score, we awarded this facility an A for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. Long-term Care Quality
To complement its impressive achievements in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care rating. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 98.1982 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.98 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. In calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was above average. Finally, this facility also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next category, this nursing home was given a very strong short-term care rating. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in this category, completing one of our finer report cards. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is more often than not a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours.
