Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it earned a fairly impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our more favorable grades in that category with a grade of B+. Inspection scores account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
This facility's second best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. There are a host of criteria within this grade. Most of these factors reflect nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 3.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below the national average. This facility also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this metric.

Long-term Care Quality
Our next category we assessed was long-term care, where this facility received an F. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home provided the vaccine to only 79.9363 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed was short-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. Short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 41.2 percent of its residents returning home.
