Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this nursing home's more favorable category grades was in the category of short-term care. This turned out to be its second most favorable category. In that category, we awarded this facility a B-. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final category we scored was long-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's weakest category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in this area. Unfortunately, this category hurt the facility's overall grade a bit. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 93.085106 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
