Facility Inspections
While we gave this place a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B for our inspections rating. This was the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an D. Our nursing grade analyzes a handful of datapoints, however, the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This number is far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's next highest category was short-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this category, it still fared somewhat poorly. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed is long-term care, where this facility was given a poor score here as well. It received a lowly F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to just 51.184834 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
