Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second highest score is long-term care, but it nevertheless earned a grade of just D in that area. This turns out to be a well below average score. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. We were pleased to discover that this facility vaccinated 98.35526 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
Our third area we analyzed was short-term care, where this nursing home was given an F. With our short-term care assessment, we strive to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.7 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our fourth category, this facility really did not fare well in this area either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. When computing our nursing grades, we factor in both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. On top of receiving below average scores for nursing hours, this nursing home was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and found this facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic.
